ECD I

We understand that the early years are a critical time in a child’s life. Our Early Childhood Development (ECD) I program is designed to support the comprehensive growth of children , emphasizing the development of critical skills and fostering a lifelong love of learning.

At the Early Childhood Development (ECD I) level 1, typically catering to children aged 3.5 to 4.5 years, the curriculum focuses on building upon the foundational skills acquired in earlier stages while introducing more advanced concepts and fostering independence. Our curriculum for ECD I students is designed to support their holistic development, preparing them for further academic learning while nurturing their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills in a supportive and enriching environment.

  1. Language and Communication: Children continue to expand their vocabulary and refine their language skills through storytelling, conversations, and language-rich activities. They learn to express themselves more fluently and articulate their thoughts and ideas.
  2. Literacy Skills: Introduction to phonics, letter recognition, and early reading skills begins at this stage. Children explore books, learn letter sounds, and start recognizing simple sight words.
  3. Numeracy Skills: Basic numeracy concepts such as counting, number recognition, simple addition and subtraction, and understanding patterns and shapes are introduced through hands-on activities and games.
  4. Social Skills: Children engage in more complex social interactions, learning to share, cooperate, negotiate, and resolve conflicts with peers. They develop empathy, respect for others, and a sense of community.
  5. Emotional Development: ECD 1 programs provide a nurturing environment where children learn to identify and manage their emotions effectively. They practice empathy, self-regulation, and coping strategies to navigate various social and emotional situations.
  6. Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Activities that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are incorporated into the curriculum. Children explore open-ended tasks, puzzles, and challenges that stimulate their curiosity and creativity.
  7. Fine Motor Skills: Continued development of fine motor skills through activities such as writing, tracing, cutting, threading beads, and manipulating small objects. These activities help in refining hand-eye coordination and pencil grip.
  8. Gross Motor Skills: Children engage in more structured physical activities that promote coordination, balance, and gross motor skills development. They participate in games, dance, and outdoor play to enhance their physical abilities.
  9. Creativity and Imagination: Opportunities for creative expression are provided through various art mediums, music, role-playing, and imaginative play. Children are encouraged to explore their creativity and express themselves freely.
  10. Independence and Self-Care: ECD 1 programs foster independence by encouraging children to take on more responsibilities for their own self-care routines, such as dressing themselves, tidying up, and following daily routines with minimal assistance.
